Dear old friend,
We have been together for such a long while
There were times I was consumed by you
Unable to breathe
Gritting and grinding my teeth
The weight of the world on my chest
Crushing my little one's heart
I understand where and why you are so prominent in my life
There was a time and a place for you
I do appreciate the strategies to survive that came from you
Now, I am no longer that child under the care of my biological family
I am an adult still responding to things in my life as if I am still a child
It is not serving me any longer
I am not reliant on others to care for us
It is my job as well as my Higher Power (who is my parent)
I truly appreciate and respect you for helping me survive those dark times in my childhood and teen years
It is now time for us to get some rest and peace in our lives
I love & thank you. I release you to your freedom so I can get to mine.
