Serenity in Music

by | Jan 30, 2022 | ACA And The Arts, ComLine

Music seems to come from a different place. I feel like I can leave the hurt and channel a Higher Power inside of music.

I came into ACA 19 months ago, and after a few months, I entered a group to work through the Twelve Steps Workbook. Periodically in the workbook, there are affirmations to help in recovery. I know how powerful and helpful affirmations can be. I did try to “say” the affirmations to myself, but somehow it felt foreign. I really wanted to have this piece, but the spoken word seemed to not work well for me and this is where music came in.

As an artist, I realized that I could write a song and incorporate some universal affirmations. I decided to write a song that my Inner Child would adore, and my wounded self could hear and welcome. The music seemed to come easily, and in the studio I was able to layer different sounds. One of the sounds I used were bells. These bells came from my recently deceased Mom.

The finished product is something I can listen to when I am struggling and need to remind myself of my truth. The name of the song is “Serenity.” It is also the title of the album I was able to finish this year called “Serenity - Spiritual Songs of Healing and Recovery.”

I wanted to share this affirmation song called Serenity to “give back.” I am incredibly grateful to ACA, my Higher Power, and my fellow travelers for a new start. I am going to thrive, not just survive!!

Serenity by Adarsha A

SERENITY (lyrics)

I am ready to love the child in me

I am ready God grant me Serenity

You are so loved

You have brilliant ideas

You ask good questions

I am happy when you’re around

I am ready to love the child in me

I am ready God grant me Serenity

I am so proud of you

Mistakes are okay

I really appreciate you

You can say no

You are lovable

I am ready to love the child in me

I am ready God grant me Serenity

Your opinion matters

I know you try your best

We all make mistakes

You are safe

I am ready to love the child in me

I am ready God grant me Serenity

You love to learn

You are good fun

You are strong

You are enough

I love you

I am ready to love the child in me

I am ready God grant me Serenity

I am ready

I am ready

I am ready

I am ready

I am ready
