Intergroups and Regions

The Intergroup is composed of members from the various ACA groups

The members services committee and its Intergroups and other subcommittees are currently on pause pending a volunteer to serve as chair. In the meantime, committee emails are temporarily being directed to the WSO office. (6 March 2026)

WHAT IS AN ACA INTERGROUP?

ACA, like most other 12 step organizations, has a structure which begins with meetings coming together to form Intergroups in a specified area (for example: geographic, virtual, language-based, and other focus areas) to help organize activities and to carry the ACA message into treatment centers and other facilities. An Intergroup also helps the meeting groups explore ideas of carrying the message within a given community and/or virtual focus area. Intergroups provide unity by linking otherwise autonomous meetings to help spread the message through fellowship.

A reminder, the more meetings that affiliate to form and maintain an Intergroup, the wider the service opportunity for long term stability. The greater the number, the stronger the connection. In the past, the minimum of three meetings affiliating with the Intergroup has been suggested.

Intergroups, Regions, and the ACA World Service Organization (WSO) serve as a resource for the meeting groups, and the meeting groups, in turn, are encouraged to provide willing trusted servants to do the good work of ACA at the Intergroup, Region, and WSO levels.

The List of registered ACA Intergroups is here: https://adultchildren.org/intergroup-listings/

There has been a Member Services Committee and an Intergroups Subcommittee, but those committees are temporarily on hiatus. The Intergroups Subcommittee was formed to give assistance, support, and guidance to new, forming, and existing Intergroups with planning, organization, and questions about protocol.

Pages 603 thru 606 of the ACA Fellowship text provide additional information on how to start an Intergroup or Regional Service Committee that is directly responsible to those they serve.

We welcome all help from Intergroups, especially with getting meetings registered with the new (meeting) registration form. If your Intergroup has not registered within the past year or does not have an email listed on the website, please update your information with the Intergroup Registration form below. Thanks much! Regional Service Committees

Regional Service Committees are part of the Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families service structure that support the membership. This ACA service structure includes meetings, Intergroups, Regions, and the World Service Organization (WSO). Information on Regions can be found in the Big Red Book, pages 604-605. Regions consist of members of Intergroups and meetings in a specific geographic areas. See the ACA Regions here.
