• Religion is believing in someone else’s spiritual experience; spirituality is having an experience of my own.
  • I can’t love anyone else more than I love myself.
  • What others think of me is none of my business.
  • My Higher Power doesn’t love me because I’m loveable, but I AM loveable BECAUSE my Higher Power loves me.
  • The ACA Promises become affirmations when I say them in the present tense, as if they are happening right now.
  • By surrendering my will to my Higher Power, I’m also surrendering a lot of responsibility for things I can’t control anyway.
  • Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Insanity can also be doing something differently and expecting to get the same result.
  • Our serenity prayer suggests that I can change myself, but I wouldn’t need the ACA program if I could do that.
  • For a long time, I was willing to change but wasn’t willing to BE changed. I still wanted to control how and how much I changed. My Higher Power changes me when I let go.
  • My Higher Power doesn’t engage in a tug-of-war contest with me. If I pick up my end of the rope and follow, my HP leads me. If I pull on the rope, my HP lets go and allows me to wander off on my own.
