The Foundation Beneath Our Meetings
A Fellowship Sustained by Participation
ACA exists today because others chose to carry it forward.
Long before current members arrived, people and groups gave their time, energy, and resources so that meetings could be available, literature could be printed, and recovery could be shared. The fellowship has always been sustained by participation – quiet, steady, and often unseen.
The Spirit of the Seventh Tradition
The Seventh Tradition reflects this shared stewardship. It is not simply about funding operations. It is about ensuring independence, responsibility, and continuity. When groups and members contribute to World Service, they are helping preserve a service structure that keeps ACA accessible across regions and countries.
Supporting the Structure That Serves Recovery
World Service supports the broader framework that allows meetings to flourish: literature distribution, translation efforts, meeting listings, service coordination, and events that connect members worldwide. These functions are not separate from recovery; they help create the conditions in which recovery can take place and in which we can attract adult children who don’t yet know about ACA.
Like any growing fellowship, ACA continues to refine its service structures and communication efforts. Leadership rotates. Service roles change. Processes evolve. What remains constant is the shared commitment to recovery and to carrying the message to adult children who are still seeking support.
Continuity Across Generations
Participation in the Seventh Tradition is one way that continuity is expressed. Some groups choose to contribute regularly. Some members give individually. Each contribution – however it is offered – supports the stability and independence of ACA as a whole.
The fellowship that exists today was sustained by those who came before. The fellowship of tomorrow depends on the steady participation of those who are here now.
An Invitation
If a group or member feels called to participate in the Seventh Tradition at the World Service level, that contribution helps ensure that ACA remains available to those who need it – today and in the years ahead.
