CAN YOU SEE ME?

by | Jan 1, 2024 | ACA And The Arts, ComLine

To be seen means feeling recognized and accepted for who I am
No judgment
Freedom to be who I was always designed to be
Expressing my uniqueness, talents, dreams, and charisma
Being my own Drag Queen
A King or Queen
Whatever my parts wanted to express
Going with the flow of my own energy
Radiating light and love
Gleaming with joy and happiness
The light from the moon and sun beaming on me
The universe sharing it's energy with me
Keeping me grounded and connected
To the power greater than myself
Allowing me to be rooted in glory and enjoyment
For all that I am and all that is meant for me
Humility rinsing over my body like a warm bath
On equal footing as others
Not greater or less than
Equal and taking up my space
No longer shrinking in the traits I developed
I deserve my space
I am grateful for my space
Safe and sound
Closer to me
More than I ever thought I could be.

Connection to recovery:
Growing up in an alcoholic/addictive and dysfunctional home, I was not seen or heard. The rules were don't talk, don't feel, and don't trust. In that environment, I became a performer for my audience of family of origin. Seeking any means to get what I knew I needed as a child. They were never able to give me what I deserved because their inner children did not get it either. The generational effects of the disease of dysfunction and alcoholism continues to impact my family unit. As an adult child in recovery, I am receiving gifts which are tools that I am applying to my life in order to affirm and soothe those parts that have been abandoned by family and myself. It has been a challenging journey, but, one day at a time, I am seeing who I really am. I am so proud of you Tam and Tamara. Love you.
