My story begins in 1975 in an old told of Louisiana when I was three years old. I was a child of the consummation of Ralph retired US Navy, unattended military PTSD captain, and Pam vietnamese refugee Codependent mother of 5 children foreigner to US, naturalized through the Hawaiian Islands. I like the average french kids in the Bayou south starting Drinking alcohol at age (9), by age 13, I was a fully committed alcoholic and destined to add Drug addiction, Codependent understanding, untreated Al-Anon, and recovery from Agent Orange exposure for all 10 years of chemical warfare that occurred during the 20 year long US/ Vietnam altercation that never really resolved the predicament of hostility between North and South Vietnam strife. I sluggard ed through my twenties on drugs and alcohol until I arrived at my identity bottom. In my 27th year of life after having two kids in a failed marriage, I attempted suicide. I jumped out of a moving vehicle while traveling 45 MPH. This was my beginning of wake up calls that required 20 years of investigating many 12 steps groups ranging from AA to EA, to ACA and Coda. I now have 11 years alcohol free time and 1. 2 years no smoking and Street drugs free. I owe most of all my gratitude to AcA fellowship, for its patience, acceptance and understandings that have been extended to me time and time over.i am immensely grateful to the higher power of my own developing understanding, for the unbelievable abundant examples of unconditional love I have been privileged to experience because of the recovery community and ways it has taught me. I want to encourage the Bipoc investigating Acoa New comers to be patient and kind to their selves, in giving ACA language a chance to communicate to them??
