They say family is blood
It’s thicker than water
that bond runs deep
that nothing runs deeper
than mother and daughter
They say your siblings are your lifeline
that without them, you will flatline
So cutting family ties feels like slaughter
wound open, blood gushing,
system falter
But they forget we’re mainly made of water
and as the blood drains, I feel lighter
The pain subsides
and I build new nerve fiber
I’m left with scars
and they’re there as a reminder
that I can be both a casualty and a survivor
The proverb stands corrected,
‘bloodshed in battle is thicker than water in the womb’
truer words ring louder
