My Higher Power

by | Mar 1, 2022 | ComLine, Voices of Recovery

My higher power is omnipotent, all powerful, understanding, glorious, kind and loving.

Hi, my name is Kristin.

I think my grandfather was an alcoholic.

I've heard that you don't have to drink to be an alcoholic; you can be alcoholic in your actions, thoughts, and words by having the disease in your blood line.

I would like to know who, if there is any one person living, has not been affected by alcoholism in some way?

I have recovered from some of the effects of the disease.

I have had joy. I have had a lot of pain, but what I have discovered is that now, knowing what I know in recovery, I am responsible for my thoughts, my actions, and my feelings.

With the help of my higher power, ACOA fellow travelers, and mostly, more than anything, God, I am whole. Holy. And can become free from the disease any time that I ask and want to be. It can be every second of my life, every minute and every hour.

Thank you.

Yours in service.

Kristin B, Philadelphia.
